Beckenham Beacon Dermatology Services
The Background
Beckenham Beacon is a redeveloped health centre in Beckenham, London Borough of Bromley. It is managed by King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. With a backlog of patients, Beckenham Dermatology Services had 300 referrals and a shortage of 40 slots a week.
The solution
Agile Insourcing was contracted to reduce the waiting time for 2-week-wait (2WW) cancer patients awaiting their first appointment after a GP referral. This involved providing weekend clinics and surgical lists (see and treat) over 8 weeks.
The results
The Trust has benefited from improved patient access by implementing a See and Treat model for quicker patient management. This has led to a significant reduction in waiting lists, ensuring more timely access to crucial dermatology services.
Benefits to the Trust include:
- Increased capacity for 2WW cancer patients
- Enhanced responsiveness to urgent dermatology needs
- Efficient use of resources with weekend clinics
- Improved patient satisfaction with timely appointments
- Patients are discharged back to the GP where possible to ease pressure on Trust
