The challenge
Homerton Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is a high-performing Trust. It serves the population of Hackney, East London, The City and beyond.
The contract with Agile Insourcing started in February 2022 and has been running for two years. Homerton Cardiology is one of Agile Insourcing's longest-running projects. It covers new, follow-up and rapid-access patients.
The solution
Agile Insourcing's solution was to deliver the full patient pathway for patients requiring rapid access, chest pain and/or general appointments by providing a consultant team to meet specific needs of the healthcare facility. Agile Insourcing has provided consultants to run weekly Saturday clinics since March 2022, with consultants running all-day clinics. Insourced Consultant Cardiologists assist in reducing waiting lists by operating clinics using the Authority Premises.
Agile Insourcing provides paper clinics to pick up results reporting, GP advice and guidance requests relating to Agile patients, and any other ad-hoc clinical queries. This ensures that the associated pressures of increased outpatient activity have not impacted the workloads of the substantive consultant team.
The Trust and Agile Insourcing have a collaborative approach that ensures any issues are addressed and resolved. This includes the set up of weekly meetings between Agile and trust management as well as the regular communication with the clinical team, including on weekends when the sessions are held. This contributes to the success of the project.
