
Manchester Foundation Trust (MFT) faced a significant challenge with 7,000 patients on the waiting list for echocardiography (ECHO) services. 5500 of these patients waited over six weeks. Due to recruitment shortages and increased demand, weekday and weekend activities were necessary to meet patient needs. The team distributed the workload across three sites to meet Trust targets.
The solution
Manchester Foundation Trust looked to increase the number of ECHO scans performed to 450 weekly. They wanted to reduce the waiting time for all ECHO patients across the Trust.
This included approximately 170 scans at each site to reduce the waiting list and subsequent referrals. Agile Insourcing provided a consistent team of British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) accredited medical staff. ECHO services were delivered 7 days a week, ensuring maximum coverage and patient care. Agile Insourcing was awarded a contract for one site, with a second site added within a few months.
